The Warlords are Coming

World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Warlords of Draenor (WoD) will be upon us in a few days (November 13, 2014) and I know everyone is excited to cross the Dark Portal and venture into the savage lands of Draenor. WoD brings with it a bundle of important lore characters like Ner’zul, Blackhand, Orgrim Doomhammer, Durotan (Thrall’s father) and Grommash (Grom) Hellscream, the one who doomed and saved the Horde. Moreover, in case if you didn’t know, Grommash is indeed the father of Garrosh Hellscream.

There is a rumor going on that Grommash Hellscream will be the end boss of WoD. I really hope it’s nothing more than a rumor. Since everyone spend the last year fighting Garrosh Hellscream, no one wants another ‘Hellscream’ as the end boss. People have already started calling it Siege of Orgrimmar 2.0. In addition, I don’t think people want to see Grommash, the hero of the Horde became a bad guy/end boss.

Just like any other expansion of World of Warcraft, WoD too comes with changes and improvements. Aside from that, a new expansions also being with it a lot of hate as people start crying over things. There are lot of people who hated the “lose” of abilities and have started calling WoW dumb. These people don’t understand that Blizzard only removed unneeded or hardly used abilities and you can easily play without them. In addition, we will get five more abilities as we level up to 100 and there is also a level 100 talent, so in a way we will get new abilities in exchange for old ones.

Looking at the Warlords of Draenor form Blizzard’s point of view, it might just be the best thing since Wrath of the Lich King. The subscription numbers are slowing rising again as old and new players subscribe again. I remember when Cataclysm was released and people started leaving WoW, they said they didn’t care if a stupid Dragon attack. Again, when Mist of Pandaria came out and more people left, saying that the game was turning into Kung Fu Panda. Now people are coming back, they want to meet all the awesome lore character that are featured in WoD as well see how Draenor was before it turned into Outland.

The other day I showed one of my friends (who has no idea what WoW is) the trailer of MoP then the cut scene shown at the end of SoO and he loved it. Then I showed him WoD trailer and he loved that too but when I showed him Wotlk trailer he didn’t show interest. That got me thinking, to someone who is new or has never played WoW before likes MoP just because there are Pandas in it and WoD just because it looks badass. Then I realized that with MoP Blizzard went back to the Horde vs. Alliance thing of old vanilla World of Warcraft but with added twist, the Pandas. In addition, with WoD, Blizzard has recreated the time of The Burning Crusade but without the demons.

No matter what happens, am sure Warlords of Draenor will be a huge improvement to World of Warcraft. Players all over the world are super existed to play this new expansion, not only for the game play improvement but also for the awesome lore changes it will bring to the story of World of Warcraft.
